Wall colours can set the tone for any room in your house, and the choices are virtually limitless. There are many different ways to use your home interior design colours and I will go over a few of my favourite ways to use colour in the next few paragraphs.
Yellow is probably one of the most popular colour used in the home and is often used as the base colour. It can give a warm welcome to a room and can even brighten up a tired room with its freshness. As a flooring colour it is very versatile and is a great choice in bedrooms and living rooms, although it is usually more popular in the kitchen.
Red is often used as the warm colour for a room and can also be used in the bathroom to create an exotic feel. The best way to make red the main colour in the room is to use it as the main focus of the room. Try using red paint on the walls and then use the rest of the room in the same shade as well. If you are using red as the main colour of your room or the basis for other colors then you should also use red furniture.
White is another popular colour and is ideal for bedrooms and bathrooms as white is very calming. It can be very overpowering, however, so use white furniture to avoid it from dominating your space. If you are going for a traditional feel then white is a great choice, and if you want to create a modern space then white is a great choice of background colour.
Blue is also a great background colour and has some very relaxing properties, especially if it is coupled with darker neutral colours. You can get blue paint for walls and ceilings, but it can be difficult to find a good range. You can also paint your curtains in blues, which works well too. Blue is also very popular in kitchens, and it is a good idea to incorporate blue into any appliances you use as well.
Finally, black can create a great wall to wall contrast and is perfect for a dramatic entrance hall or atrium. Try using dark wall colours as a base for lighter walls and then add a splash of light from the ceiling.
