From blue to black and everything in between, you're sure to find something that suits your style. Here are a few of my favourite living room colour schemes and colour combinations for decorating.
Living Room – A warm, sunny room is the perfect place to entertain. A cool and laid back living room is the place where friends gather to share stories and watch the news, or relax with a good book. Choose a neutral color scheme for this room – think of the warmest sun in the country. Choose a vibrant hue of light, such as a bright shade of pink or yellow, to make it feel as though it's in the middle of the desert. If you want to add some colour, go for bright, bold patterns or paint or fabrics. A neutral is always a better choice – the room will feel more comfortable without the distracting colors. Don't be afraid to take a break from being bright with a splash of colour in the living room!
Dining Room – This is probably the place in the house that people tend to think about first when decorating. A warm, welcoming color scheme would look best in this room. Choosing one or two bright colours would give the room an inviting and friendly appearance.
Bedroom – This is another room that people tend to spend most of their time in, so they want a room that is relaxing and calm, but still very stylish. The colours here should be bright and vibrant, but not so bright as to be overwhelming. Try using pale blue, pastel shades of pink and grey or even subtle pastel pinks and purples for a relaxing room, or choose bold reds, oranges and yellows for a fun, vibrant room.
Kitchen/Dining Room – Your living room and bedroom can both be a source for great family moments, so the best thing to do is use the same colour schemes in your kitchen and dining room. However, choose different hues for each room to create a feeling of luxury. Choose a white room, with light, fresh accents, such as neutral tones, or cushions, to provide a warm, welcoming environment. A vibrant, deep red room can be created by painting it in rich reds, oranges and yellows. For a vibrant room, consider painting it in vivid reds, orange and yellow tones.
These ideas will help you get the inspiration for the different room types. You'll soon find that the possibilities are almost endless – what's on your mind?
