Agreeable Gray is a short story by J.G. Ballard. There is no doubt that the novel had a great impact on the entire literary genre, and thus it is not surprising that this is one of the most well-known novels. Indeed, the story is one that has the ability to captivate its readers and make them feel as if they are right in the thick of things.
The story is set around the time period between The Dark Half and The Burning World. The main character in the story is a middle aged man, named David Gray. He is described as having a sort of psychic ability, which allows him to see things that others cannot, but he doesn't know what the abilities entail.
For some reason, the authorities at his work to try to deny him access to these powers, so he goes underground and finds a way to unlock his powers. His method involves taking advantage of some supernatural forces. In order to do so, he must find ways to control the power and use it to his own advantage, while using it for what he considers to be his best interests.
David uses his abilities to help others, in order to increase his power. When his powers start to manifest themselves, he starts to question why he needs to use them in the first place. He begins to realize that he has more to offer than just money and power. Instead, he starts to realize that people need to be understood and that understanding is the key to all success. His ability to understand others is the key to making friends and influencing people.
As David continues to grow in his understanding of himself and others, he slowly starts to see the world through the eyes of those who need and want to understand him and others like him. This is where Agreeable Gray really begins to shine.
This is a good book to read if you're interested in a little psychological insight into the mind of an average person. If you enjoyed The Dark Half, or even if you haven't read that book yet, I'd recommend that you start reading Agreeable Gray before you even attempt to read The Dark Half.
The plot of Agreeable Gray is very interesting and the main character is very likeable. David Grey is no saint. He does commit a number of wrongdoings, but he also has an admirable quality that many people seem to lack: humility.
